The definition of growth and development

Growth and development are two related process which happen simultaneously. Growth is the permanent and irreversible addition of size and/or the number of cell. Growth can be quantitatively measured.

Development however is the change in function; it can maturation (progressive) or senescence (regressive). It is qualitative, marked by change in function or the ability to conduct physiological function.
