Suppose Mr. Gunawan has six cows and ten goats. He is going to sell all of them. If one cow and one goat are priced x rupiah and y rupiah respectively, how much money will Mr. Gunawan receive?
Mr. Gunawan will receive 6x + 10y rupiahs.
The form of 6x + 10y from the above illustration is an algebraic expression in which:
- 6x and 10y are called terms
- x and y are variables
- 6 is the coefficient of 6x, and
- 10 is the coefficient of 10y
